Colorado State Sales and Use Tax Exemption

The following types of applicants are eligible to apply for the Sales and Use Tax Exemption program for Renewable Energy equipment:

  • Commercial
  • Industrial
  • Residential
  • General Public
  • Non-profit
  • Government
  • Agricultural
  • Institutional
  • Retail Supplier

The following table shows the requirements in order to be eligible for the tax exemption:

The tax exemption will apply to equipment such as generators, towers, supports, inverters, wiring, control systems, transformers, and many more not listed here.
Maximum Incentive: 100% Tax Exemption

Local Small Wind Rebate Program
Commercial and residential applicants may be eligible to receive a rebate on the purchase of qualifying small wind power generating systems. The rebates are shown below:

  • Incentive Amount: $2/w to $3/w, varies by utility
  • Maximum Incentive: $5000 to $10,000, varies by utility.

The maximum rebate amount is not to exceed 50% of the system’s cost.
