Solar Energy Utah State Incentives

Utah State Renewable Energy Sales Tax Exemption

The following types of applicants can qualify for the Utah State Renewable Energy Sales Tax Exemption:
  • Commercial
  • Industrial
  • Utility

The following table shows the requirements in order to be eligible for the sales tax exemption:

Requirements for Eligibility
Installations of 20 kW (kilowatts) or greater.
Expansions of 1 MW (megawatt) or greater.
Eligible renewable energy systems include:
  • Wind
  • Solar
  • Biomass
  • Landfill Gas
  • Anaerobic Digestion
  • Hydroelectricity
  • Geothermal Energy
Incentive: 100% tax exemption for system purchase.

City of St. George Utility Rebate Program
Residential applicants of the city of St. George may be able to apply for a rebate on the purchase of Energy Efficient upgrades. The following upgrades are eligible:
  • Air Conditioners
  • Duct/Air Sealing
  • Building Insulation
  • Comprehensive Measures/Whole Building
  • Pool Pumps
