Solar Energy Arizona State Incentives

Arizona State Income Tax Subtraction for Energy Efficient Residences

The following types of applicants can qualify for the Arizona State Income Tax Subtraction:
  • Residential
  • Builder/Developer
  • Installer/Contractor

The following table shows the requirements in order to be eligible for the tax deductions:

Requirements for Eligibility
Home must exceed the 1995 Model Energy Code by 50% or greater, which is determined by an approved rating program.
Incentive: 5% of the sales price excluding the following:

Commission
Tax
Interest
Points or Other Brokerage
Finance Charges
Escrow Charges

Sales Tax Exemption
Any Commercial, residential, or consumer purchase of any of the following products can apply for a sales tax exemption on the purchase of the following equipment:
  • Passive Solar Space Heat
  • Solar Water Heat
  • Solar Space Heat
  • Solar Thermal Electric
  • Photovoltaics (PV)
  • Wind
  • Solar Pool Heating
  • Daylighting
